The 26th Edition Of The Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Awards Brings Recognition To Modern Day Patrons In 17 Countries Including For The First Time

“With its origins in the culture of writing, one of the fundamental components of human civilization, Montblanc has always valued arts and culture as a vital part of any thriving community by creating new perspectives,” explains Jens Henning Koch, Board Member of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation. “While it started as an unconventional way of acknowledging

deserving modern-day patrons of art, the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage award has continued to grow to become an annual event for the global arts community.”

For its 26th edition, the patrons honoured in 17 countries will join a notable list of past honourees that include HRH The Prince of Wales, British maestro Sir Simon Rattle, Italian architect Renzo Piano and Japanese artist Yoko Ono.  The countries where the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award will be presented in 2017 include Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States, and for the first time Bangladesh, putting a spotlight on arts patronage of emerging cultural scenes in countries where patronage is less prominent.

For each annual edition, the Montblanc Cultural Foundation assembles an international jury of art influencers, a passionate network of the most knowledgeable and forward-thinking individuals brought together by the Montblanc Cultural Foundation to evaluate the nominees. The winners are chosen based on their history of personal commitment to the arts and their support to the work of young and emerging artists with a concern that  that the wider public should benefit from cultural projects and in particular, the work of young and emerging artists. This year, the jury is made up of 44 members emanating from all countries participating in the award. Each member of the jury is invited to vote for the nominees in every country including their own.
