ARAB FASHION WEEK – OVER 50 DESIGNERS ANNOUNCED TO PRESENT

The Arab Fashion Council, in partnership with Dubai-based holding company Meraas and Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum Juma Al Maktoum Investment (MBM), is set to host 24 runway shows for over 30 fashion designers as part of Arab Fashion Week. The highly anticipated bi-annual event, taking place from 15-19 November at City Walk, is expected to attract a huge number of visitors.

 

Designers include Aiisha Ramadan, Tony Ward, Aliyaa Al Faour, Saher Dia, Mua Mua Dolls, Kartikeya, Christophe Guillarmé, Mario Orfei ,Viola Ambree ,David Tlale, Renato Balestra, Estelle Mantel, Phuong My, Nordic Angels, Humarrif ,Minaz , Dimple Amrin, Faspiration, Leonardo SpadinieLSI CoutureAmato, Louzan & Carmichael.

 

Lebanese-born Saher Dia will kick-off the exclusive five-day event at City Walk, Dubai’s urban living destination that boasts premium outdoor retail offering. Synonymous with glamour, Saher Dia is known for his timeless elegant style and love for the finest fabrics  and is a household name for women seeking to express a sense of style that optimizes femininity.

 

The event will continue speaking to women across the world through beautifully crafted garments as AIISHA takes centerstage. Behind the brand, is Lebanese fashion designer, Aiisha Ramadan, whose use of intricate handmade details, fine embroidery and luxurious fabrics has led to a celebrity clientele including Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande.  

 

Delicately crafted for the contemporary Arabian lady, Louzan Fashion is a luxury abaya and sheila brand that delivers truly bespoke fashion, blending edgy with traditional styles to create pieces that are unique. Starting with a single outlet in Al Ain in 2003, Louzan has now 16 additional outlets spread over Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, and Doha.

 

Expect to regress back to your childhood at the Fifth Edition of Arab Fashion Week, as Mua Mua’s iconic hand-knitted celebrity dolls, made in Bali by Italian designer Ludovica Virga (Lulu), make an appearance. Lulu has taken her dolls to Milan Paris and New York and has presented them on the biggest stages, with a range starring Karl Lagerfeld, Lady Gaga and Anna Dello Russo, to name a few.

 

Concluding day one, Amato Couture, meaning ‘beloved’ in Italian, is the brainchild of multi-award-winning creative designer, Furne One, who partnered with textile expert Rashid Ali to launch the Avant Garde label in the UAE in 2002. Ferne has touched a chord with the region’s fashion elite ever since, through unconventional yet outstandingly chic collections.

 

As the Arab Fashion Week continues and City Walk transforms into an enchanting journey through fashion, Tony Ward, will present his talent and master-craftmanship inspired by his youth, as the son of a well-known couturier based in Beirut. His enrollment in the most prestigious fashion design school in Paris – L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture – when he was 18 years old, was followed by working with Claude Montana at Lanvin, Gianfranco Ferré at Christian Dior couture and Karl Lagerfeld at Chloé, where he learned the secrets of Haute Couture techniques.

 

Of course, the Arab Fashion Week would not be complete without a closing Gala & Awards Dinner, which will take place on 19 November, and host guests including industry professionals, celebrities and international and regional fashion designers. The awards will recognize outstanding contributions to the fashion world across the Middle East and beyond.
