Audiences Mesmerized by powerful Lucerne Symphony Orchestra in Abu Dhabi Classics Season Opening

The magnificent Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi successfully hosted last night (Friday) an exceptional concert of magical composition from one of Europe’s most distinguished ensembles; the 68 musician-strong Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. American conductor James Gaffigan and American soloist Nicholas Angelich captivated audiences who enjoyed the spectacular showcase of musical artistry.

This comes after Abu Dhabi Classics’ season-opening concert by the eminent orchestra in Al Ain’s Al Jahili Fort Thursday night, where HE Sheikh Saeed Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, and other high dignitaries witnessed the outstanding concert that marked the kick-off of the 7th edition of Abu Dhabi Classics.

Classical music enthusiasts were enamoured by renditions of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto, Richard Wagner’s sensational Symphonic Poem: Siegfried Idyll and Beethoven’s 4th Symphony originally written in 1806, Sergei Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 composed in 1900-1901, Brahms First Symphony (1876) and a host of other compositions, of which are all reminiscent of what musical historians view as “Music of the Romantic Age.”

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, the Abu Dhabi Classics programme is organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and produced by Flash Entertainment. The engaging series will bring to the emirate enchanting performances in a season running from October 2017 until April 2018.

Tickets are now on sale at www.ticketmaster.ae and all Virgin Megastores across the UAE for the season’s upcoming concert at the historic Bin Hamoodah Fort in Al Ain on November 9th. Audiences can anticipate a melodious showcase of musical showmanship, featuring the Trombone Trio of the prestigious Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, joined by Nico and Martin Schippers and Bart Claessens. The trio will be joined by accomplished pianist Jeroen Bal.
