Launching Beirut Chants 2017

Beirut Chants is an annual sacred and classical music festival launched in December 2007, which joined the European Festivals Association in 2013. Every year during the month of December, local churches become a place for all citizens and visitors to enjoy music infused with the spirit of Christmas. Since its inception, the festival has grown year after year presenting carefully picked programs of local and international performers.

The last season featured 28 concerts over the 24 days prior to Christmas, which were attended by over 30,000 people and received a large and very enthusiastic media coverage including international media. This year is special, for it will mark the 10th anniversary of Beirut Chants, and will also feature outstanding performances and music virtuosos such as the pianist Dmitry Masleev, winner of the 2015 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the violinist Sergey Khachatryan winner of the First Prize at the VIII International Jean Sibelius Competition in Helsinki in 2000. The festival will be honored to host this year Gold medalist of the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the pianist Yekwon Sunwoo, in addition to Arab talents such as Asil Ensemble for Contemporary Arabic Music, the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra and several prominent Choirs.
