TCA ABU DHABI ESTABLISHES “MAMSHA AL KHAIR” INITIATIVE IN SUPPORT OF THE YEAR OF GIVING

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has today unveiled the Mamsha Al Khair initiative, which comprises monolith granite and limestone permanent installations set along the Abu Dhabi Corniche promenade. The installations will reflect the UAE leadership’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of giving among Emiratis, residents and visitors to the emirate.

The Mamsha Al Khair installation was revealed by HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, TCA Abu Dhabi Chairman, HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, TCA Abu Dhabi Director General, and other officials from TCA Abu Dhabi.

Mamsha Al Khair permanent granite installations will carry inscriptions from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of the UAE, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

An additional 76 Arabic and English quotes from globally renowned inspirational figures such as Ahmed Shawki, Abu Al Tayeb Al Mutanabbi, Al Barjami, Mother Theresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Steve Maraboli, will be engraved in limestone panels that will line the Abu Dhabi Corniche walkway. The inspirational quotations aim to increase awareness for the importance of social responsibility, invoking a spirit of volunteerism while encouraging future generations to aspire to humanitarian values and foster a legacy of generosity.

Commenting on the unveiling of Mamsha Al Khair, HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman, TCA Abu Dhabi said: “This initiative is our way of illustrating support and commitment to our leadership’s declaration of 2017 as ‘The Year of Giving’, while simultaneously giving back to the community and promoting the spirit of collaboration, tolerance, and humanitarianism that the citizens of Abu Dhabi emirate are renowned for.

“Set in the heart of the capital on Abu Dhabi Corniche, the monolith installations and quotes along the walkway have been created to enhance the appeal of Abu Dhabi’s breathtaking Corniche beach while promoting social responsibility and cultural inclusion, creating an immersive experience for visitors and residents alike,” he added.

Mamsha Al Khair will further transform the capital’s Corniche area, showcasing the inspirational quotes every 30 metres along the iconic promenade from the East Plaza to the intersection at Emirates Palace. The granite installations and walkway invites visitors to engage with its symbolism, taking pictures and videos while chronicling the UAE’s long-standing reputation for promoting social awareness by imparting the value of giving back to society.

The Mamsha Al Khair reveal coincides with the opening of, and just a stones-throw away from the location of this year’s second edition of the Mother of the Nation Festival, a 10-day event which celebrates, commemorates and honours the inspirational values of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. Visitors to the Mother of the Nation Festival which opens its gates to the public on 26 March 2017 and runs until 4 April 2017 will enjoy an opportunity to engage with the spirit and symbolism of Mamsha Al Khair on Abu Dhabi’s idyllic Corniche area.
