Weekends at the Oasis set to return to Al Ain Oasis

The Weekends at the Oasis event, which is organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), will return to Al Ain Oasis on November 23-24, and will once again provide visitors with unique experiences and enthralling activities.

The returning event will open on the 23rd at 5pm and will run until 10pm with this edition seeking to introduce visitors to the culture of the 1990s as well as allowing them to explore the cultural and historical aspects of the oasis.

Activities on offer will include workshops which will cater to all members of the family, including a Competition workshop which will feature a cultural and heritage contest similar to the TV show Hurouf, which was popular in the 1990s. In the Golden Generation workshop, visitors can print their names on a replica of the UAE national football team shirt worn when the team qualified for the World Cup Finals in 1990, whilst in the Spending Time workshop, which is inspired by Majed magazine, participants will be asked to search for Fuduli, a character from the magazine.

Other activities will include a visual presentation of games from the 1990s, including video games, board games, carrom, and dominos, in addition to showing clips from TV shows, cartoons, music, and songs that were popular at the time. There will also be a nostalgic presentation of various phone models, which had recently entered the market in the early 90s. In addition, food trucks, kiosks, and a retailer’s corner will provide a selection of delicious cuisine and innovative products to buy.

Visitors can also write down their memories from the 90s on a Wall of Memories, and take part in a Q&A session onstage, which will be held from 5pm to 6pm and from 7pm to 8pm.

The Weekends at the Oasis event will return on December 21 – 22. Al Ain Oasis will be open from 8am to 10pm during the event, and admission is free.
