To Zayed – Salam Concert Pays Tribute to the Founding Father

The 6th GCC Heritage and Oral History Conference concluded yesterday at Manarat Al Saadiyat with an enthralling Cine-Concert entitled ‘To Zayed – Salam’, which was organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).

With HE Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, in attendance, the concert attracted a large audience, which got to enjoy music accompanied by cinematic footage from the life of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The concert also included songs inspired by the Founding Father’s poems, accompanied by the music of the Emirati Oud master Faisal Al Saari, and a number of Arab and regional musicians.

Alia Al Qassimi, Head of Manarat Al Saadiyat, said: “We are proud of this musical evening and its artistic and historical values, which is inspired by the late Sheikh Zayed. The evening was a journey we got to take with the late Founding Father, remembering his words of wisdom, which became the ultimate representation of love, cohesion and peace. The To Zayed – Salam concert was a vibrant theatric journey, filled with positive messages of peace, loyalty, and heritage.”

Al Qassimi continued: “This was a gathering to salute the late Sheikh Zayed, who dedicated his life to this country which became an ever-shining beacon for the world today. Words cannot do him justice, to describe the values of love, wisdom, modesty and compassion he presented. We shall also not forget his humanitarian efforts, where his great deeds reached all people wherever they needed help. This concert is an expression of our gratitude to the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, through remembering his poems and words that best describe his beliefs.”

The To Zayed -Salam concert was a part of the Sounds of the UAE Series, a dedicated programme for maintaining the rich heritage of Emirati music.

The concert included musical pieces that are inspired by the poems of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, including Mashghoub, Shatan Bi Al Ghazlani, Ana Ma Sa’adet Bteeb Wagti, Mn Nazretah, Hobokm Wasat Al Hasha, Al Zain Haza, Ya Tyer, Hay Bel Shahama, and A’azy Rejal Wallah Rejal, in addition to the song Dar Zayed by Emirati poet Juma Al Ghuwais.
